Shapinsay, Balfour Castle

Flat Axehead (bronze)(early Bronze Age)

What is recorded here

Mansluach and Shapinsay both carry Balfour names, but neither is the castle named in the rejected claim. That is why the new writing must leave the woman out entirely.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Shapinsay, Balfour Castle as Flat Axehead (bronze)(early Bronze Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
