Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Mousland as Barrow (early Bronze Age), Cist (early Bronze Age), Cremation (early Bronze Age), Polished Axehead (stone)(prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Early Bronze Age barrow with associated cist and cremation; the presence of a polished stone axehead indicates ritual or high-status deposition, typical of burial practices in Neolithic to Bronze Age Scotland.
