What is recorded here

This stone commemorative plaque records: Holy Trinity Stocks. Wooden stocks have probably stood on this spot since the 16th century. They were used for the punishment of minor crimes and nuisance until changes in the law in 1858. The original stocks are displayed within the church, these replicas being set up in 2006.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
