This bronze commemorative plaque records: Balcombe Ouse Valley Viaduct This viaduct was designed by the engineer John Urpeth Rastrick for the London & Brighton Railway. The architect David Mocatta was associated with the design. The structure comprises thirty-seven arches and was completed in 1842. It is listed Grade 2. Restored 1996-99
