This green commemorative plaque records: 29 Tower Street Whincop House retains the name of Robert Whincop (1733-1803). He was a solicitor, Deputy Collector of Customs, and the Town Clerk 1785-1803. His nephew Robert Whincop served even longer, being Town Clerk 1803-37.
