This bronze commemorative plaque records: Bedern Chapel. The remains of the Chapel of the College of the Vicars Choral of York Minster. It was consecrated in 1349. Nearby is the Common Hall of the College. The name Bedern (Anglo-Saxon) means House of Prayer (Bed-aer). Recorded plaque organisation: York Civic Trust.
