What is recorded here

This blue commemorative plaque records: Carters' Rest. Although now a public house and restaurant, this building was originally the Grammar School. Formerly the school was housed in the remains of the Abbey across the road and since 1882 it has been at the bottom of the High Street. Among famous pupils was Sir David Brewster (1781-1868) who was world famous for his studies of light and optics. Recorded plaque organisation: Royal Burgh of Jedburgh.
