This blue commemorative plaque records: Pipers House. Notice the figure of a piper at the edge of the corbelled gable (above). The town's hereditary pipers, the Hastie family, lived in a house here until the early 19th century. They would pipe round the town morning and evening and also lead processions and festivities. A marriage lintel of Adam and Janet Ainslie in 1609 has been placed at the wall-head. Recorded plaque organisation: Royal Burgh of Jedburgh.
