What is recorded here

This blue commemorative plaque records: Wrain's or Wren's Nest. A house on this site was given to the Earl of Home by King James VI in 1610. The present building dates mainly from the 18th Century. It became Jedburgh Academy in 1821 and housed a prestigious boarding school for boys. Notice the initials on the gable heads, standing for George Fife, the headmaster, and Marion Millar, who were married in 1862. Recorded plaque organisation: Royal Burgh of Jedburgh.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
