This blue commemorative plaque records: Wenman Joseph Bassett-Lowke 1877 - 1953. Founder of Bassett-Lowke Ltd, a manufacturing company specialising in trains, ships and architectural models. A patron of modern design and the arts, he commissioned Charles Rennie Mackintosh to remodel 78 Derngate, his home from 1917 to 1926. Recorded plaque organisation: West Northamptonshire Council.
