This green commemorative plaque records: William Crotch 1775-1847 Musical prodigy and composer was born in this parish. From the age of 3 he played the organ in many East Anglian Churches and concert halls. In 1797 became a professor of music at Oxford and the first principal of the Royal Academy of Music in 1822.
