This blue commemorative plaque records: John Buckley VC 1813-1876 Born at Cocker Hill, Stalybridge. Awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry during the Indian Mutiny of 1857. The citation reads 'for gallant defence of the magazine at Delhi'. Recorded plaque organisation: Tameside Metropolitan Borough.
