This blue commemorative plaque records: For valour Surgeon-General William Manley VC, CB Royal Artillery (1831 - 1901) Lived here 1884 - 1901. " For brave conduct during the attack on a rebel fort near Tauranga, New Zeland, on 29 April 1864, when he rescued several wounded soldiers" Recorded plaque organisation: Cheltenham Civic Society.
