This green commemorative plaque records: Supermarine Spitfire Mk. 1a R6762 57 OTU Eshott, Northumberland 1942-1945 Dedicated to the memory of the airmen who lost their lives during World War 2. This Spitfire is a replica of the aircraft flown on 12th April 1944 by Sgt Knagenhjelm which fatally collided with a USAAF P-47 Thunderbolt flown by Ist Lt A. Serapiglia from RAF Milfield.
