This blue commemorative plaque records: Professor Dame Rosemary Cramp renowned archaelogist and Anglo-Saxon specialist, lived at 12 Church Street between 1972 and 1988 The first female Professor at Durham University, she developed the University's Archaeology Department and led notable excavations at the twin monastery of Monkwearmouth - Jarrow. Recorded plaque organisation: City of Durham Parish Council.
