What is recorded here

This black commemorative plaque records: 1802-1894 Lajos Kossuth - Hungarian patriot. This plaque is to commemorate the fine reception and hospitality given by the Biaw Lads' and Lasses' of Galashiels to the above named former Governor of Hungary, who on two invitations to the town informally addressed an enthusiastic assembly of well wishers from the window of the Commercial Inn and later delivered a formal lecture on his patriotic struggle to an assembled crowd of townsfolk and many others drawn from the surrounding area, in the Dr Henderson Church, on the 25th June 1856
