This blue commemorative plaque records: This building was erected as a station for the Volunteer Fire Brigade formed in 1887 to assist the regular brigade. The carved firemen's heads are said to be of Captains of the time. The volunteers disbanded in 1891. Recorded plaque organisation: Hull City Council.
