This brown commemorative plaque records: Near to this spot stood the Blackfriars Monastery founded in 1231 by King Alexander II. From the monastery gardens King Robert III viewed the Battle of the Clans fought on the North Inch in 1396. King James I of Scotland was murdered within the monastery on the 20th February 1437. Recorded plaque organisation: Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust.
