This bronze commemorative plaque records: Maria de Lorraine Regina Scottia Mary of Guise 1515 - 1560. Queen and queen regent of Scotland and mother of Mary Queen of Scots whose palace stood here but fell into ruin. Demolished in 1815 to build New College 1816. Recorded plaque organisation: University of Edinburgh.
