This blue commemorative plaque records: Stone Bridge Constructed 1847 using cast iron girders with brick infill arches to support the road, the bridge spanned the Preston to Longridge Railway. The first steam train to use the line was on the 12th June 1848. The line was closed to passenger traffic in June 1930 and goods traffic ceased in October 1967.
