What is recorded here

This blue commemorative plaque records: The Mitre Hotel sits on the site of a former public house (The Wheatsheaf) which was rebuilt around 1923. The name is an acknowledgement to the high churchman Bishop William Stubbs (1825-1901) distinguished theologian, ecclesiastical historian and Bishop of Oxford, born in this town. Recorded plaque organisation: Knaresborough Civic Society.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
