This black commemorative plaque records: RHEILFFORDD FYNYDD BRYCHEINIOG Byddai'r siafft awyru hon yn gwasanaethu twnnel Morlais, a redai am 1037 o lathenni. Adeiladwyd hi gan John Mackay a'i feibion i Gwmmi Rheilffordd London and North Western ym 1879 BRECON MOUNTAIN RAILWAY This ventilation shaft served the Morlais Tunnel which ran for 1037 yards. It was built by John Mackay and Sons for the London and North Western Railway in 1879. Recorded plaque organisation: Merthyr Tydfil Heritage Trust.
