This black commemorative plaque records: Town Hall & Gaol In the 16th Century, the Town Hall had an open arcade at ground level for trading livestock. The current façade is early 19th Century. Embedded in the walls is a cast iron naval cannon! The adjoining jail was built in 1750. Recorded plaque organisation: New Romney Heritage Trail.
