This brushed metal commemorative plaque records: The South Gate. 1800 years ago the Romans built a wall with four gateways around the market town Noviomanus Reginorum (Chichester). This is the site of the medieval south gate, which was demolished in 1773. The original Roman gate was further east and its road led to Dell Quay.
