This blue commemorative plaque records: Godstall Lane this is one of only four medieval lanes to survive within the city walls. It was an important route to the Abbey of St. Werburgh (now Chester Cathedral). The name, meaning 'God's Place', refers to a tradition that a hermit lived here in the 12th Century.
