This green commemorative plaque records: DRUNGEWICK LANE CANAL BRIDGE The original bridge over the Wey & Arun Canal was opened in 1816. After the canal was abandoned in 1871, the bridge remained in position for another 34 years, only to be destroyed in 1905. The bridge you see was built in 2000-2001.
