This brown commemorative plaque records: Crown Hotel Rebuilt 1585 on site of a much earlier inn destroyed by the fire of 1583. A coaching stop on the London-Chester run. The long, enclosed gallery on the first floor is an unusual feature. Recorded plaque organisation: Rotary Club of Nantwich, Nantwich Civic Society.
