This green commemorative plaque records: Kendricks Cross In medieval times a wayside cross stood near here at the junction of two highways. After 1754 this was the site of a toll-bar. A sandstone pillar was erected by Bartholomew Bretherton in 1821 to mark this place. Recorded plaque organisation: Rainhill Civic Society.
