This green commemorative plaque records: Jessamine Cottage Mid 18th century cottage and former police house with lock-up under the stairs. George Knight, "an efficient officer", lived here in the 1850s keeping a strict watch on the villagers' drinking habits. In the 1940s Mr Wren the wheelwright lived here, next door to his business premises. Grade II listed Recorded plaque organisation: Wheathampstead Heritage.
