This green commemorative plaque records: Old Church School This Victorian Gothic building of flint and brick replaced an earlier National School on Wheathampstead Hill (1815). Opened in 1862 with 100 children and 50 infants, it remained a school until 1969. The zig-zag pattern is repeated in the roof using different coloured slates. Grade II listed Recorded plaque organisation: Wheathampstead Heritage.
