This green commemorative plaque records: The Bull Inn This was originally a group of 16th century buildings but has been an inn since 1617. General Monck, instrumental in the restoration of Charles II, is said to have stayed here during the Civil War (1642-1651). The village kept its fire engine here after 1866. Grade II listed Recorded plaque organisation: Wheathampstead Heritage.
