This black commemorative plaque records: The Reginald Mitchell The Tontines was built in 1831 as a 'Shambles' Or Slaughter House. The Building was then used mainly as a meat market. its most recent use was as a shopping mall reginald Mitchell was the inventor of the Spitfire Fighter Plane, he was born in Butt Lane in 1895.
