This blue commemorative plaque records: Built in 1816 this was the private house of Thomas Alderson Cooke J.P. After his death in 1854 it was acquired by Earl Fitzwilliam and used as an infirmary until 1928. Since 1931 it has housed the Peterborough Museum. Recorded plaque organisation: Peterborough Civic Society.
