This slate commemorative plaque records: Coventry Station The original railway station at Coventry. Situated by Warwick Road was built by the London & Birmingham Railway and opened on the 9th April 1838. The present structure was formally opened on 1st May 1962 by Mr. Bert Holmes. A retired railwayman for 48 years successively in the service of the London & North Western, London Midland & Scottish and British Railways at Coventry.
