This blue commemorative plaque records: This building was purpose-built for Southwick Local Board and opened in February 1893 where Board members met to run Southwick Township. In January 1895 the authority became an urban district council and in January 1901 there was a name change to Southwick-on-Wear Urban District Council Recorded plaque organisation: Southwick Village Green Preservation Society.
