This green commemorative plaque records: The Ancient House A merchant built this house in about 1490. The large amount of visible and carved woodwork was a sign of his wealth and status. In 1921 the house was given to the town by Prince Frederick Duleep Singh (1868-1926) to be used as a museum. Recorded plaque organisation: Thetford Town Council.
