This black commemorative plaque records: North Wheal Basset Lyle's Shaft Pumping Engine House. Built in 1879, this building housed an 80-inch cylinder beam engine for pumping water from Lyle's Shaft and via a flat rod system to Grace's Shaft located 150 metres to the west. Mineral Tramways.
