This black commemorative plaque records: North Wheal Basset Lyle's Shaft Winding Engine House. Built c.1879 to house a 27-inch rotative beam engine used for raising ore after miners. Winding engine came into operation c. 1890. Lyle's Engine was then used as a capstan engine for lifting heavy equipment. Mineral Tramways. Recorded plaque organisation: Mineral Tramways Project.
