This black commemorative plaque records: The White Horse. Probably built by Laurence Ord. The inn was a point of departure for London with stabling in an undercroft entered from Calton Road. There was a later inn of the same name on Boyd's Close at the head of the Canongate.
A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
