This blue commemorative plaque records: In grateful memory of the gallant crew of the Lancaster Bomber of 432 Squadron, Royal Canadian Airforce, based at Eastmoor, which crashed near Aldborough on the evening of 2nd February 1944. Their aircraft, on a cross-country training flight, had caught fire and was losing height when the pilot, with great skill, managed to avoid the village and instead came down on Studforth Hill, a short distance to the south. The crew were Pilot Officer J G Sleben RCAF, Pilot, 24; Flying Officer D S Kerr RCAF, Navigator, 20; Pilot Officer W Wolf RCAF, Air Bomber, 20; Pilot Officer P J Power RCAF, Air Gunner, 21; Pilot Officer D Finch RCAF, Air Gunner, 21; Flight Sgt R Pratt Robinson RAF, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner, 20; Flight Sgt K Huggins RAF, Flight Engineer, 20; This memorial was erected by the villagers of Aldborough to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their noble sacrifice. 1994
