This brushed metal commemorative plaque records: The "Dougal Haston Stone" This stone commemorates the historic achievements of international climber Dougal Haston., a Currie boy who went on to become the first climber to conquer Everest by the south west face and the first Briton to conquer the north face of the Eiger. He later died in an avalanche in Switzerland in 1977 aged 36.
