This bronze commemorative plaque records: Unitarian Chapel. The earliest of York’s surviving Nonconformist churches, built 1692-1693 as a Presbyterian Chapel but later to become Unitarian. Charles Wellbeloved, an eminent scholar and historian, was minister here from 1800-1858 and is buried here. Recorded plaque organisation: York Civic Trust.
