This blue commemorative plaque records: Leeds College of Art Founded in 1846, by Leeds Mechanics' and Literary Institution, pioneered the teaching of practical art and design in England and USA. Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth studied here. This building was erected for the college in 1903. Recorded plaque organisation: Leeds Civic Trust.
