This blue commemorative plaque records: Alfred Cyril Lovesey CBE born 15th July 1889, lived near here at 3 Greenfield Villas. Designer and developer of the Rolls Royce Merlin engine which powered the Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito and Lancaster aircraft and the Avon engine which powered the Hunter, Canberra and Comet.
