This blue commemorative plaque records: Coldingham Priory. The Old Hearse House. This building was constructed in the 1850s to provide accommodation for the hearse, following the Victorian restoration of Coldingham Priory. Originally there were louvres in the small window to the left, for the building had another occasional use - as a mortuary.
