This blue commemorative plaque records: Thomas Wilson 1773-1858. Pitman, poet, schoolteacher, businessman, councillor and local benefactor. Established this building (1841) as Gateshead Fell Reading Rooms and school, for Low Fell residents. Recorded plaque organisation: Gateshead Local History Society.
