This blue commemorative plaque records: Great Yarmouth Vauxhall Station As there was a fear of a German invasion and air raids, 3,700 school children and their teachers were evacuated in five trains from this station to the Midlands on 2nd June 1940 The evacuation saved many lives as Yarmouth was heavily bombed in World War II Recorded plaque organisation: Great Yarmouth Local History and Archaeological Society.
