This black commemorative plaque records: George Redmayne Murray (1865-1939). George Murray lived in Saville Place. In 1891 he successfully treated hypothyroidism using the first hormone therapy. Brady & Martin Chemists, Northumberland Road, made the thyroid extracts. Recorded plaque organisation: City of Newcastle upon Tyne.
