This blue commemorative plaque records: The Golden Cross An ale house for over 500 years it was a meeting place for Royalists in the Civil War until Shrewsbury was taken by Parliamentarian troops in 1646. Was also sacristy to old church of St.Chad opposite which collapsed in 1788 Recorded plaque organisation: Rotary Club of Shrewsbury.
