This blue commemorative plaque records: The Nook (Previously the Rose and Crown) Established on this site in 1754 and rebuilt in 1819, this inn stands beside the 1768 turnpike route that crosses the adjacent Ribble Beck via 'Higgin Brig'. The arch of this old bridge can still be seen. Recorded plaque organisation: Holme Valley Civic Society.
